The main materials used for carbon brushes in product applications include graphite, impregnated graphite, and metallic (including copper and silver) graphite. Widely used in many electrical equipment.

The function of carbon brushes:

(1) In a commutator motor, the brushes also play a reversing role, which can change the direction of the current;

(2) Grounding carbon brush can output current and introduce static charges on the main shaft into the ground through the carbon brush;

(3) Apply external current (excitation current) to the rotating rotor (input current) through the carbon brush of the motor;

(4) Lead the main shaft (ground) to the protection device for rotor grounding protection and measurement of rotor positive and negative. The ground voltage commutator consists of an electric brush and a commutation ring, and a carbon brush is one type of electric brush.
